During these months, high tides reach our steps and crash against the protective wall. It’s a captivating sight to behold. The immense tides create a strong backwash, pulling the sand away from our beach and out into the ocean. However, as the tides calm in the following months, the sand gradually returns, settling to rest for the upcoming summer season. Consequently, we witness the birth of a new beach each year.

Parallel to the shoreline, sandbars form, influencing wave breaks and giving rise to various types of surf breaks. Moreover, the movement of sand affects the depth and contour of the ocean floor, ultimately influencing wave approach and the overall quality of the surf.

It allows us to preserve and enhance surf conditions while ensuring ecological sustainability. It’s fascinating to note that sand, the key ingredient of our beaches, originates from the gradual erosion and weathering of rocks over millions of years. Through the forces of wind, water, and ice, rocks break down into tiny particles, creating the grains of sand we know. The composition of these sand particles varies, with minerals such as quartz, feldspar, and mica, depending on the types of rocks present in the region. Eventually, wind, water, or ice carry the sand and deposit it on beaches, dunes, riverbeds, and other locations, forming the beautiful sandy landscapes we encounter and enjoy.
